As we head into the fall season, consumers are looking to purchase new footwear as they continue their walking, running and fitness routines and they have evolved their expectations about service in brick-and-mortar stores. Our survey of more than 400 “active and outdoorsy” consumers found that nearly 70 percent of consumers say they would feel comfortable in a sit-and-fit environment, getting their feet measured and having help trying on shoes. As far as workout activities that consumers say they have been participating in over the past few months, 61 percent report that they are hiking and running and 59 percent say they are walking for fitness. A whopping 74 percent of respondents say they are interested in buying new running shoes, with 47 percent putting walking shoes on their shopping list.
The survey, conducted by MESH01, included 413 respondents, active and outdoorsy men and women, ages 18 to 60.
